Come Sit Beside Me

The recent floods in Texas, fires in the West and horrific political unrest world wide, has caused me to wonder if in fact, is there any hope for mankind?  We would all like to think that our time here on this earth has made some kind of difference in the midst of obvious chaos.  Our hope is that we have left a footprint, no matter how small, in our home, our community and our world.  A difference can be good or bad..one would hope that the difference we leave behind would be good and lasting.

Surfing through Facebook, we see all kinds of emotionally healthy, positive sayings and ideas for how to reframe our thinking when bad things happen to us. The main theme that runs through the Facebook headlines is to consecrate our thinking. As we read in Philippians 4:8..think on the good things..anything of virtue. But with all the evil in this world, is this even possible?

I ran across a devotional sometime back that was talking about Sampson. The article raised a question that I had wondered myself. It was saying that if Sampson was a Nazarate and had taken a vow of separation from certain things considered evil..supposedly to bring him closer to God..why was Dililah allowed to take over his mind in such a unhealthy way?

Reading further on in the devotional discussion, it gave the following explanation. As a Nasaritte, Sampson lived a life of separation from certain things. However there was never any indication that he was walking close to God. Even though  God had given him a special gift, Sampson attempted to walk in holiness in his own strength.

It seems that although he was following his Nasaritte teachings, he was not living, that is, breathing in the presence of the Lord on a daily basis. Because of this he walked in his own strength...what he thought was right. The wonderful words of inspiration prick our heart. But unless we are living or communing with the heart of the Lord on a daily basis, they are just that, beautiful words. Words on a page are just that, words. Only as we have daily relationship with the Lord Jesus will those words become the heartbeat of the lord. They will become our breath....

This is what I see as I surf through the wonderful, inspirational sayings on Facebook. Everyone one is touched by the words on the screen as they scroll through. They hope  the words will bring them strength...and they do...temporarily.  But what the Christian world needs now is that all consuming mercy, strength and power of our almighty God.

Joshua 3:5 said for the people to sanctify themselves for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders. Living in in this day of uncertainty, we are no different than the people of the Old Testament. Qadash is a Hebrew relationship term that means separate or set yourself apart unto God. His heart for us is not...clean yourself up so then I can restore you..

Instead he says come sit on this bench right here beside me. I don't care what you look like right now. I just want to be with you. Come close and breath my presence...let it wash over you and make you clean..listen to my heartbeat. Let me tell you the great plans I have for you. Come close and let me love on you.

Sampson had only his own strength to fight with...Until he was blinded and all he could do was feel the love of the Lord for him,  In like manner, unless we are drawn to sit next to the Lord and breath in his presence, we will only be able to view the temporary inspiration as it scrolls across our iPad or cell.
I challenge you today to sit close enough to Jesus so that you can hear his heartbeat and let him lead you to walk in lasting footprints ....the lasting foot prints he has walked before you.

Listening With Your Heart

Spiritual Nugget for today...
Late last night I was watching God Tv and Heidi Baker was telling a story of her trip to...Somalia, I think...during the Cholera epidemic .. she thought she would go over and just offer some tangible comfort in the form of treats for the suffering children..keeping her distance of course because it was so contagious.
However, when she got over there, the Lord said, no Heidi, I want you to speak life to them, "cheek to cheek. " Now mind you, these children were so infected that they were dripping in urine and feces and snot...no cleanliness because the country was so poor. So cheek to cheek meant getting dirt on your hands. These children had been left to die.
As Heidi explains, as she was physically hugging these children, she was speaking life into them..when a doctor walked in, pointed her finger at her and said...you stupid, white foreigner...get out do you want to die with all of these children...get out, get out !!!
Her testimony was that not only did she not leave, but not one child or adult worker died. miraculous of coarse.
The text she used was taken from Exodus 33 which talked about the presence of God and where Moses said I depend on your presence and direction and wisdom to breath.
(I know this is long but please bear with me.)
She was speaking to a conference in Japan. The Holy Spirit was so thick that I could feel it in my living room. These Japanese Christians were hungry for His presence.
As I was reading further down in the text, I noticed verse 16. Various translations say it differently, but basically what it says is, Lord God, if you don't show your favor on us, how are we any different than anyone else...and how will those around us see this difference.  Think about this.
The world is in chaos. We are in a word war...he said..she said. My opinion verses your opinion. The media is full of opinions and theories. So what???
Unless they see a meaningful difference in us...
If we do not have the presence of God in us...there is no difference between us and them.
When Jesus walked this earth, people flocked in crowds to see him.. yes some came in hopes of a cure for their disease. But many came and endured the hot sun and the bugs in the grass and wind and the weather just to be near him. There was no AC or loud speakers.
What do we do just to be near him. I am not talking about going to church every time the doors are open. What do we do in our personal life to sacrifice our time to be near him. So that when we are faced with a hospital full of sick children or even one sick child, we will be so close to him that we will hear him say,
...get close to their disease and speak life into them....touch them with my love.
My challenge for you this week is pray for the fire of God to surround you and make a difference that others can see and know His presence is with you..🔥🔥🔥

Nothing New Under the Sun

Here it is over six months into the new term under a new president, and still bullies on the playground fight for who is top dog. well, actually, that was decided last November, but the liberals are bound and determined to rebel the loudest.

Their hope is that by screaming at the top of their voice, the lies and scewed stories will cover the truth. That truth is that this administration is here to stay. They may have hit a "bump in the road," or actually, it looks more like a detour. But, one thing the conservatives are good at is the turtle game. You know, just plugging along at the same slow pace, while the liberals continue to do the hyperactive dance of media chasing. Most of what they are doing is serving its purpose. That is sidetracking the issues. As long as the administration is having to spend its time trying to fight the media and trying to defend themselves, nothing of any real purpose will be permitted.

Ecclesiastics says there is nothing new under the sun. Case in point: I am reminded of something similar that happened long ago. Moses was the elected person in charge, but like the liberals of this generation, Kora thought she and her followers could do just as well. Raising her voice and telling Moses that she was just as good as he was...had just as many good ideas and was just as deserving. Therefore it needed to be put to a vote as to who should really be in charge. Kora forgot that God had already made the decision ... and it was not negotiatable. But Kora would not submit.
So God in his sovereignty, opened the earth and swallowed up the dissenting group...swallowed them whole.
Because, I am a believer in the fact that the character of God is the same yesterday, today and always,  I would be very careful of rebelling against the person God has put in place.

But then, many have decided there is no God !!

Make America Great Again

As I woke this morning, I found myself in tears. Actually, they were tears of gladness. My candidate, Donald Trump won the office of President. The election has paid its tole on all of us. Things have been said that perhaps should have been said differently. There were way too many skeletons, on both sides, that had been unburied.

In reality, he wasn't supposed to win. The media had placed the idea that there was no way the Republican Party could when. It was broadcast that the 2016 theme, "Make America Great Again," was weak and meant to split the country. Donald Trump, in comparison to the Democratic running mate, Hillary Clinton, was not fit for the job. As a business man who had never run in any election, his ideas were not "political," to say the least.

It was a shock for most people. A good one, but a shock nevertheless. If I were to say what happened to cause the change, I would say that the Christians in the land finally hit there knees. America is in trouble. Everywhere you look, there are signs that we are no longer the great country we once were. Unrest on the home front has erupted in the racial arena as well as in the laws of immigrantion, homeland political affairs, overseas military issues as well as gun control and major intercity problems of all sizes and shapes. In addition to these overwhelming areas of concern, religious diversity has shown its ugly face in the public schools, sexual revolution, respect for the flag and public prayer.

All of this unrest and all of a sudden, a president was going to change things?  I think not. But, it was something that people could point their fingers at and use as a scapegoat if things did not go well for your party. As the newness and reality of the fact that the Republican Party would now take over, protest has become the overwhelming rant across the Nation. Absurd as it seems, the youngest voters have been the ones shouting the loudest. And, that is their right.

What is not,  is the physical abuse of innocent people,  whose only crime is being on the winning side. It is just this very reaction that that there is such division in the time we now live. The youth of today who have been raised to believe that all they have to do is yell louder than the next man and they will get their way, are assuming that this behavior skill...that has shown promise in their past experiences, will continue to get them what they want. Unfortunately, this is the reason the older generation turned out in mass to he voting booths.

The word says, the foolish man walks in the thoughts of the world...1st Corinthians 3. It is with great hope and prayer that I look to the next 4 years with anticipation. Not that I think Donald Trump has all the answers to the mess we are in. But, I do think that perhaps he will turn the political arena back to the Belief in God,  so that those in charge will take another look at the constitution and why we were formed as a country. Indeed, why we sailed across the seas and what we wanted as a country... a newly formed country.

Again, my hope and prayer is restoration for our country so that we will not be afraid to pray where we stand and return to respect our forefathers and the flag.  Yes, I want to see "America Great Again" and I want to see this transformation in my lifetime.

A Time Such as This

Morning my friends..
Sometimes the Lord will wake me in the night to visit with him... just a little private time between friends. As previously mentioned, I do write down some of the things we talk about. Often he tells me "to tell my people".. other times they are just quiet urgings between us.
One such time 16 years ago, he gave me a word to share at a later time. As in the book of Esther, it was to be  saved for a ...time such as this. Therefore I will share the following for those who have ears to hear.

As you read this, think back over the last 16 years and perhaps you will understand why you have been through such hard times. Preparation and training for what is ahead usually is not understood as you are going through it. Normally it is not until the training period is passed that your spirit understands that what it has gone through was for "A time such as this."

Tidbits from the Master
January, 2000, 3:00 AM

Samuel grew and the Lord was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground. And I will seal your lips with the coals of fire..and the words you speak will be my words. I will do this for the sake of my people who are sleeping.
As the lightning rips from the sky and touches the ground, those who are near and hear, will be astounded at the power and truth I have saved for the hidden army of the last days church.
They will be a people who have suffered for my sake and been tried by fire. They will be a people who will stand when everyone around them is bending like trees with shallow roots.
Be it known here and now that in the natural, this will not be a pretty time; but it will be a mighty time...for my kingdom will be filled with people who are hearty.  It will be filled with people who have tasted victory and defeat...and know the difference.
"For I am with you always. " This will have a new meaning in the days to come. Be still and know that I  am God...the same yesterday, today and forever.
I will do a work in your day that will astound and amaze all who see it. It will truly amaze those who have eyes to see and those who have ears to hear.
Up to this time the people have cried..."Lord, you said you would, but I have not seen it." But I tell you the truth, my people will be bewildered no more, because I the Lord have come to set the record straight.
My word is Truth. I will not lie, neither will I withhold my word from the obedient, end times church. They are being set into place...each one in accordance with their purpose.
I will bring about the unity that is needed, but not in the way you might think. Think it not strange that I choose to perform my works quietly...in the hearts of my warriors first. For have I not said, my weapons are not carnal but spiritual.
Remember I am the Lord your God. I will never leave you or forsake you. I will lead you into the paths of righteousness...but you must be prepared to follow. They will not look like paths you will want to enter.
But my people will have a prepared heart and be able to trust me as I lead them into battle.

Thy Kingdom Come

Many years ago, I started the habit of journaling. I call it journalism but really it is praying on paper. It all started when I found myself worried about some issues that just continued ruminating in my head. Over and over again I found the same thoughts swirling around in my thoughts. Naturally, nothing profitable came from this.

One day I started praying to God on paper just as I would have spoken to him from my heart. What I found was that I was able to organize my thoughts. By looking at my writing, I was able to not only formalize thoughts, but also get a better perspective of what I was really worried about.  In addition I found that as the issues were formed into words and words into concepts, what had been a worry in my heart, slowly became a prayer.

Proverbs 3:5 says to trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. Journalism seems to help me with this. Remember when the disciples asked Jesus how to pray? He replied to say these words. "Our Father who art in heaven, hollowed be they name.Thy kingdom come thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven."  Over my years of praying I have been taught many things. Mostly, I have been taught to "talk" to him just I would talk to anyone. So how does what Jesus taught, line up with what the preachers have taught me over the years?

I have learned to combine the two, but to pray regardless. For the sake of this post, I will pull from a passage I wrote dated 2-4-94. In it, I am surprised that I was concerned about what was going on in our country. Like my concern today, our Nation is still in trouble.  But during that time, this is part of what I wrote.

Our Father who art in heaven, I praise you and thank you for who you are. You are a wonderful God. Your word says that when we come to you, our Heavenly Father, we should come to you in the name of your son, Jesus. By doing this, you will answer us and lend your ear toward us. I come to you now, thanking you for your goodness and mercy. I lift up our land to you. Father, forgive our country. I petition you to forgive our impurities and our ugliness. I thank you Lord that your mercy abounds. I thank you that there is no road that is so crooked that it cannot be straightened by your perfect creation.

Today, I would add these words. My Lord and My God, Holy are you. As you look down. From your heavenly kingdom, I ask that you make your kingdom ...the perfect kingdom of heaven, come down and inhabit this earth. Send your Holy Fire to burn away all the ugliness that is buried in the depth of our heart.  Oh Lord, please bring your kingdom here and let this kingdom age become what you have made in heaven...perfect and sinless in every way with no health problems and no argument from the political powers that reign. Lord, I ask of your heavenly hosts of heaven that they push back all the darkness that hovers over the political realm and release the those good things to inhabit our nation. I declare that the heavenly hosts fight with those dark beings and cause only the light of God to recreate the new heaven and the new earth. You my Lord are in control.
Thank you my Lord and God.  I continue to trust you to bring the peace that passes all understanding.
You are the same, yesterday, today and forever.

...To Live Another Day

Seems like every time I sit down.to write, my thoughts are like a jumbled up necklace that must be patiently unknotted. Today is no exception. Last week was Labor Day weekend and we welcomed another little girl to our family. Elora JoAnne came into this world weighing a little over 7lbs. Daughter of Karanda and James, she entered as somewhat of a surprise..Mostly because Karanda had said she did not want children. But after many years of God waiting for her to change her mind, he changed it for her. Naturally, now that sweet little Elora has made her appearance, it is hard to believe what Karanda was so worried about.

That is kind of how many of our worries are overcome. Enlarged in our minds to enormous proportions, we explore in all directions the possible dire things that might happen, instead of looking at all the good things that could happen. Looking down over the centuries of time, we see that many fears come from the .negative thoughts of what could happen..rather than the endless possibilities of good things God has stored up for us.

Jesus said to us in Mark 9:23 that all things are possible to those who believe. That said, if we believe that good things will happen rather than bad, then the Lord will honor that belief. As I look at all the challenges facing my family right now, then it is with the positive thoughts from the heavens that I will surround these things in positive prayer.

When the disciples asked Jesus how to pray, he gave them a sample prayer. Jesus said to say..our Father who is in heaven, ask him to please bring those things which are in heaven down to this kingdom of earth. Thy kingdom come...on earth as it is in heaven. When we think of heaven culture, we think of a sinless, perfect world. We think of all things working together in perfection according to the intent of our Heavenly Father for us.

Therefore, when we pray to him about those things that concern us, let us talk to him in a positive manner about our worries and let our conversation be in the positive vain. For example, my Heavenly Father, I ask that you surround my granddaughters with good thoughts about what type of husband they are looking for. I ask that you bring down from your perfect heavenly kingdom that perfect man you have planned for each of them. I ask that the heavenly hosts surround their paths and prevent them from walking in darkness. And lord I ask that you cause each f them to step back and sit down and pause. Pause for awhile and wait on the lords' perfect timing. Perfect in the sense that he knows when you are ready for commitment. Yes, you want the experience of that perfect love now. But to not wait for it is to destroy it.

Praying Thy Kingdom come over their life means that we  pray the perfect intent that our Lord had for them from the beginning.  The beginning when he saw them knit into their mothers womb? Speaking  again to pray or declare in the example of biblical correctness, I would say: Our Father, who art in heaven, hollowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come,  thy will be done on earth...as it is in heaven...Bring down to this sinful earth, the wonderful, glorious things that happen in heaven. Erase the sin from here and renew and recreate this earth with those things that happen in heaven. Or, make earth just as it is in heaven. I ask for a heavenly habitation. Holiness, come live on this earth for awhile and make things great again. I guess that may be asking too much...but is anything too much for the Lord?

Well, so much for my rambling of today.. Have a great one and remember...He is the same, yesterday, today and forever!!!
